More About Me
I am Jennifer. I am just another mom in her mid-30s trying to figure out how to do this thing called “living.”
I have been with Doug since 1999 – we made it “official” in 2002 and have been plugging along together ever since. Sometimes things have been tough, sometimes things have been great. I started this blog after we managed a cross-country move with 2 little kids and no jobs. We are good.
I have 2 kids, a boy (D) and a girl (E). They are 26 months apart, born in 2004 and 2006, respectively. They are a big part of this blog.
I have a BA and MA in psychology and have worked for years in children’s mental health. I am also a certified school counselor. This means I know enough about child development and mental illness to make you uncomfortable. This does not mean I know what I am doing with my own family.
I am an animal lover. I am a vegetarian. I am a liberal living in the conservative south. I am shy and kind of awkward with new people. I am still dealing with body-image issues. My weight goes up and down, sometimes alot and often not so much. Sometimes I feel pretty good about who I am and what I am doing, sometimes I struggle to look in the mirror.
I like to write. And draw. And take pictures. And, secretly, dance.
Sometimes I like to run. Sometimes I like to sleep. It evens out, mostly.
The one thing I know for sure is that none of us have all the answers, but if we spent more time listening to each other we might see that we have more in common than we think.
So stick around. Laugh with me. Cry with me. We might become friends.
